Representative Steven C. LaTourette on his website, Ohio lawmakers are calling for an ... Voice of the People. Health care for children

http://www.topix.net/us-hou...

The American College of Physicians (ACP) has commended Marcy Kaptur and Steven C. LaTourette, members of Congress, for their bipartisan sponsorship of the Health Coverage, Affordability, Responsibility and Equity (CARE) Act.

According to information from the Census Bureau, 44.8 million Americans lacked health coverage for all of 2005. Without insurance, children and adults do not have access to regular preventive and screening checks, and often delay obtaining treatment until they are seriously ill. This leads to an increase in premature deaths and unnecessary suffering, and produces staggering costs to society: lost employee days from work, higher health care bills (and taxes and premiums) for those who have insurance, and increased emergency room visits and hospital stays."

"Sirs, I am appalled at these United States politicians who believe that National Health Care will actually work. We have seen this system fail throughout the world. If a National Health Care System is put in place, woe to the American Citizens!! Regulate the Health Care System and the Insurance Companies, there lies the problem. We Citzens have been priced out of the system and can no longer afford our Health Plans. We cannot step into the haze of Socialisim, fore then, the next step will be made so much easier! The Welfare System has made us poor and giving our hard earned monies to other countries and illegal aliens (as if the world has ever repaid those loaned funds). The world at large hates the United States of America and we should look after our own citizens first and foremost. It makes me cringe to know of the poverty here in the good ole' U S of A and have to watch our money go out of the country to benefit others and our citizens do not receive what they work so hard to obtain. I Believe in America and do not think that they will allow this Experiment in Socialism to go forward. If it does, you will see a Second Revolution in this country. Also, Stop all of the Pork and Stop all of the Earmarks in the Stimulus Package, that is sheer insanity in the face of our eccnomic crisis! There are the Billions of dollars which are needed for our Health Care System, GEEZ, are you guys for real!! I say, "Kick The Bums Out" and start all over!!!

Sincerely,
Mrs. Brenda J. Hackney"

Why doesn’t the United States have universal health care as a right of citizenship? The United States is the only industrialized nation that does not guarantee access to health care as a right of citizenship. 28 industrialized nations have single payer universal health care systems, while 1 (Germany) has a multipayer universal health care system like President Clinton proposed for the United States.

Myth One: The United States has the best health care system in the world.

Fact One: The United States ranks 23rd in infant mortality, down from 12th in 1960 and 21st in 1990

Fact Two: The United States ranks 20th in life expectancy for women down from 1st in 1945 and 13th in 1960

Fact Three: The United States ranks 21st in life expectancy for men down from 1st in 1945 and 17th in 1960.

Fact Four: The United States ranks between 50th and 100th in immunizations depending on the immunization. Overall US is 67th, right behind Botswana

Fact Five: Outcome studies on a variety of diseases, such as coronary artery disease, and renal failure show the United States to rank below Canada and a wide variety of industrialized nations.

Conclusion: The United States ranks poorly relative to other industrialized nations in health care despite having the best trained health care providers and the best medical infrastructure of any industrialized nation.

Switzerland has the best Health Care In the World. If we are smart, we in USA should follow the Lead."
